The Cumberland Valley Wood Carvers Club was founded in 1988 by a group of eleven carvers from south central PA, northern MD and eastern WV.
Both beginners as well as veteran wood carvers are welcome to join the club. Many members became interested in carving following their participation in the Annual Wood Carving classes. These classes are taught by club members and the event is held at the Franklin County Career and Technology Center.
Weekly meetings are held Monday mornings at 8:00 AM at the Scotland Community Center (Scotland PA) and usually end around 11:00 AM. These meetings are an informal get together where club carvers work on their projects.
The Club maintains an extensive file of carving patterns for member use.
There are social activities such as the Annual Picnic and Christmas Party. There are trips to wood carving events and museums. The members also carve canes which are donated to disabled veterans.
